A familiar face stands behind the pharmacy counter, waiting to help customers with a warm smile.  Northwood Drug has brought Holly Sheva Cooper to her hometown as a Pharmacy Technician.
Holly graduated as a pharmacy technician in 2002 and went to work for Altru FMC Pharmacy in Grand Forks.  She decided to take seven years off in her career to raise her two sons, Andrew and Aaron.  Daycare was difficult to find in Buxton, and her husband Justin worked out west as a welder.  She held a job as a paraprofessional and also coached volleyball and elementary girls' basketball for Central Valley School.
Her boys have grown up; Aaron is at UND, while Andrew is out in the workforce.  The opportunity to work as a pharmacy technician recently opened up in Northwood.  Holly enjoys reconnecting with the people she knew from years ago.  She loves being able to visit with her parents, Eddy and Annette Sherva, while working in town.   Her dad, Eddy, is now retired and can even whip up a bite to eat for her lunch hour.  Today, he offered up some macaroni & dogs.
She much prefers hitting the golf courses rather than mowing during her time off.  She also wants to enjoy traveling more to places like Duluth.  Her health tip for all of us is to "Be
Active!"

It has been nearly sixteen years since Pam Pollert conceived the idea of a Back-to-School Carnival.  The local cancer crusader group was very active at that time.  Club members, such as Janice Bilden, and others wanted to do something monthly to raise awareness or funds to support the American Cancer Society.  Pam Pollert liked the idea of holding a school carnival in August.  What a wonderful way to honor her son Mike, who passed away from cancer.  Taking her grief and bringing some happiness as kids get ready to start another school year.

This quickly became a tradition, and many have come alongside Pam to help create this event each year, including her kids and grandchildren.  Many other clubs and businesses have set up fun games with great prizes for the kids to win.  It is an inexpensive evening that all can participate in.  The tickets only cost twenty-five cents, and the meal was two dollars.

The Community Center was full of children running to the games to walk away with some great prizes.  It was a great way to wind down summer vacation and bring excitement to the beginning of a new school year.  Thank you, Pam, for all you do.
Life truly is too short not to try new things and to walk away feeling fabulous.  Kenzi Huus joined Tia Leen back in 2023 as a licensed esthetician.  She always had a love for applying makeup, which started at a young age.  Kenzie has and will continue to provide services for waxing, facials, and eyelashes.

Tia encouraged Kenzie to consider attending school to become a stylist because she knew Kenzie would be a natural at it. Kenzie enrolled in Josef's school of hair, skin, and body in Grand Forks.  To complete the program, she had to complete 1,500 hours over 10 months of schooling.

She is looking forward to seeing the familiar faces as well as meeting new clients.  The best part, however, is working alongside Tia, where she will continue to hone her skills with much laughter.  "I'm so lucky I get the opportunity to learn and grow from someone as talented as Tia.", shared Kenzie.

Kenzie loves the coloring process, anything with blonding and highlighting.  It is very rewarding to see the finished process.  She notes that 2025 through 2026 will feature very layered haircuts for the ladies and more modern mullets for the guys.  If she could give one beauty & health tip, it would be to wear sunscreen and do it all year round.
