Today, our hearts broke in half.  It has been a long week of hoping for a miracle and comforting her.  It was getting to be too much, so we headed to Fargo, and I held her in my arms for her last breath.  My husband and I have been through the worst loss you can imagine with our daughter.  Nothing will wound more.  However, this hurt so incredibly.  We've grieved the loss of two other pets, but this is the hardest.
She is the only true blessing to come from Facebook.   It was nearly 17 years ago that Jan Sponsler had posted about the kittens that had been born.  They would need a home soon.  This tiny calico kitty grabbed my heart, and I instantly claimed her in the comment section.  I picked her up as she played with her littermates in the basement.  It was our basement that she loved so much.
She immediately bonded with young Daniel, who was four at the time.  She loved to hang with the kids.  We called her Meowie, Fluffypants, and Fluffy.  Big Kitty and Ms. Meow.  I just had to have vanity plates bearing her name on my car.
She never made anyone mad.  She was the most gentle and sweet spirit.  Other kitties in the home were dominant to her.  They made her wait for her turn at the food dish.
Miss Meow had a language like no other kitty.  She actually would respond in sentences with full inflection.
Our favorites were her flirbs.  She could be tenting under a blanket and would hear us approach, and she would flirp.  She loved her kitty nibbles (Temptations), and in the past year, she flirped to have them more than her once a day. Meow's human was my husband.  He was her warm spot, and she always slept next to him at night.  Today, she moved from the cat bed closer to the bed because she wanted to cuddle.  It was almost like a goodbye.  She was so loved, so very loved.  Our Carter was home last weekend.  He said he was happy to hug her and stated that the house would feel a little emptier.  We thank God for giving us such a unique kitty.
Thank you, Miss Meow, for nearly 17 full years.  I am so sorry we had to make the drive today.
