Northwood Park takes you to the ballgame, bringing you the girls and boys of summer. With our beautiful weather, the ball diamonds were hopping at the beginning of June. Knock on wood, no mosquitoes!
If the streets seem quiet, all you have to do is look towards our park, because that is where all the action is.  The youngest are gaining their skills with T-Ball.  Dad, Max Tangen, remembers not too long ago when he had Mike Schol, who introduced him to playing ball.
Everyone should take advantage of attending a game this summer, even if you don't have kids playing.  There is Girls' Softball, Little League, Babe Ruth, and, of course, the Legion.  Gordy Sondreal enjoyed watching his great-granddaughter play softball, but admitted he may be a bit of a turncoat, cheering on Thompson.
It is wonderful watching the coaches interact with players, especially with the teenagers taking on the role of coach in T-Ball.  Many parents fill the volunteer shifts to ensure everyone has a stadium experience with a great burger, brats, and candy.
Before you know it, summer will fade away.  Grab your sunscreen and lawn chair and head to the park.
