Today marked the 25th Anniversary of 9/11. The Larimore Museum held an event on its grounds to mark this somber day. Students from the Larimore Public School also attended, bringing these stories to a generation of Americans who had not been born at the time of this great tragedy.
The day was remembered in song, personal stories, and a reading of the timeline of events. We must always remember the 2977 victims of that day, which also included 441 first responders. The four North Dakota victims were also remembered today, reminding us how connected we were to this event.
The Global War on Terror would also claim 7000 lives of our United States Military. People are still losing their lives due to the toxic fallout that filled the area where the World Trade Center fell.
I've been spending hours watching the documentaries that have told the story. It is important to hear these stories from the survivors and the families who grieve the immense loss that they live with each day. It is hard to digest the evil that exists in our world, and yet we cling to the power of goodness in coming together.
